Howard Lederer Biography

Howard Lederer was born in Concord, New Hamshire where he lived with his family which includes sisters Annie Duke (professional Pker Player) and Katy Lederer (Author and Poet). Howard attended University in New York City at Columbia where he discovered poker and began playing at the Mayfair Club with other poker greats Erik Seidel and Dan Harrington.

In 1994 Howard sought out high stakes poker games and moved to Las Vegas. Howard is know as the professor because of this long history of wins, analytical style and demeanor. Despite his calm demeanor, Leaderer has shown some cracks such as when he publicly criticized Daniel Negreanu in 2002 for his inappropriate comments towards Annie Duke and at the 2003 WPT in Paris when he refused to shake the hand of Tony Guoga (known as a notorious needler) when he was eliminated from the tournament. Daniel appologized for his comments and is now a good friend of Lederer.

Leader has 2 WSOP bracletes and Two WPT titles to his name.

Despite being a vegan, Lederer once ate a Cheese Burger to win a $10,000 proposition bet from fellow poker player David Grey. Doyle Brunson gave Leaderer the nickname "Bubba" due to his problem with weight. Eventually leaderer had Gastric bypass and lost the weight. Seeing as Bubba is no longer appropriate it has been shortened to "Bub".
