'Anyone who thinks cardplaying is a 'game' - I'll show you a loser. Money... M-O-N-E-Y. That's how you measure success. One dollar at a time. One chip at a time. That's how you keep score.'

Gus Hansen Biography

Not only is Hansen a professional poker player he also plays professional backgammon and has been known to take personal bets on different athletic challenges.

Hansen started playing poker while he was attending the University of California in 1993. His play is aggessive and loose and has a reputation for bluffing with any two cards. This tends to have the effect that his legitimate hands end up being called.

In 2004 Hansen entered the main event of the WSOP and finished in 150th spot. A few years later in 2006 he made it to the final table but was knocked out on his first hand. In 2007 he finished in 61st place in the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Main event. This finish earned him $151,000.

Hansen has not only performed well in the WSOP but he has won three WPT open tournaments and the first WPT Bad Boys of Poker invitational. In 2006 Hansen won the London All Star Challenge which was the EPM inagugural event. This win was worth about $100,000. Hansen also won the $1,000,000 top prize for the inagural $400,000 Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament.

Hansen is a regular in the Big Game held in 'Bobby's Room' at the Bellagio Casino in Vegas.
