Gabe Kaplan Biography

Perhaps best known for his stand up and his portrail of Mr. Gabe Kotter on the hit 70's sitcom Welcom Back Kotter, Gabe Kaplan is an accomplished Poker Player and host/commentarot on GSN's High Stakes Poker.

Kaplan made his first appearence at the WSOP in 1978. In July 2004 Kaplan had his biggest win when he finished third in a No Limit Texas Hold'em event in the WPT which earned him $250,000. In 2005 Kaplan finished second in the $5,000 Limit Hold'em event which was worth $222,515.

2007 has been a good poker year for Kaplan. At the WSOP he finished in 9th place in the $50,000 World Championship H.O.R.S.E event, earning him $131,424. He also appeared on Poker After Dark "Queens and Kings" and defeated Kristy Gazes heads-up to win the episode. Other players in that episode included Howard Lederer, Vanessa Rousso and Annie Duke.

Judge Kaplan, from the film Rounders, is named after Kaplan.
